Dynazty – Final Advent Review

It is time to review a new release of a genre I have recently become so fond of, power metal. Final Advent, the newest album from Dynazty I had to review as it promised only killer songs. What’s more, Dynazty is known as the most melodic metal band in the Swedish scene for delivering albums with excellent musical expertise and composition.

As a result, I had to find out myself if Dynazty holds up to this legacy. In order to get a better understanding of how the album came to be, I joined D Metal Galaxy Youtube Channel chat with Nils Molin.

On the basis of my own findings and the chat I will discuss the following topics: music, lyrics, videos and will summarize everything in the end.

Music

Personally, I would say Dynazty has powerful drums and powerful riffs which fit the power metal genre. However, some songs like “Natural Born Killer” are much calmer. These types of songs are mixing different kinds of influences like electro, for example, which gives the album an interesting twist as different engagements are involved. One song is much more suitable for headbanging whereas the other one requires more dancing.

All this is enhanced by Jacob Hansen who is well known for his capabilities of mixing and mastering music. Everything he touches gets an extra layer and modern sound uplifting Final Advent even more.

“DYNAZTY’S FINAL ADVENT IS THE BEST ALBUM TO DATE TO DANCE ON”

Lyrics

The lyric side of “Final Advent” is quite intriguing as the personal interpretation of the writer hidden. Even during the interview Nils kept his interpretation secretive to give you the listener an opportunity to make your own subjective interpretation of thr lyrics. Being a writer myself I love the idea, because art is a way to bring stories and emotions across. If you give away the message you are limiting the listeners to a certain perception. As a result, lyrics where you decide the perception yourself are great ones as it lead to unexpected results.

Apart from the perception part, the lyrics smartly reference to the previous album “Dark Delight” with the song “All The Devils Are Here”. Therefore, I was tempted to listen to the older album as I wanted to have the full story. But it works the other way around as well. For those who are listening for quite some time Dynazty it is quite a nice surprise as it builds up and finish something you have listened already before.

“THE MEANING BEHIND THE LYRICS ARE UP TO YOU, THE LISTENER”

Videos

Final advent is accompanied by four videos: Advent, Yours, The White and Natural Born Killer. All songs were recorded between touring and just in a couple of hours. The band hired Groupa 13 for the job, a video company that is known for their outstanding quality and they have worked with Nils on Amaranthe before.

The self titled album Advent is quite astonishing and bombastic. There are a lot of special effects with lighting and firing making it catchy. Moreover, the effects align greatly with the melody and the video is stylishly interrupted by Nils Molin the frontmen to transfer a certain emotion.

The next one “Yours” has quite a different approach. It is still visually very appealing, but it is much more centered about the story and emotions that come with the song. This story is told by Nils Molin and unknown women. Both tell a different perspective and transfer different emotions to the viewer.

Also, “The White” has a different angle. It is much more a dance tune. As a result, I love the way the colours are interchanging between black & colours and the camera moving around the recording room as it adds to the dance vibe. If you look closely, to the video you see some band members jumping and dancing around.

The most recent song “Natural Born Killer” is quite similar to the “The White”, however the song uses different colours and camera techniques. According to me a great strategy as somehow the visuals tightly align with the melody.

“THE VISUALS AND MELODY ARE PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH EACH OTHER”

Summary

Final Advent is a great album musicwise as it offers diversity. Each song requires a different kind of engagement of the listeners. One song tends to be perfect for headbanging whereas the other one is perfect for dancing and everytime the melody is a bit different. Also, the lyrics offer a lot of diversity as it is up to you the listener to interpret the song and give them a meaning.

All this is enhanced by the great stylish videos who are once again open for more interpretations and offer diversity as some videos are leaning more towards dancing than headbanging.

“WITH FINAL ADVENT YOU WILL DEFINITELY DANCE YOUR FEET OFF”
